Castle Kasperk, Rabi, and Velhartice

The castles of Kasperk (20 km), Rabi (12 km) and Velhartice (10 km) form an impressive part of the historical heritage of the region. Kašperk, the highest castle in Bohemia, served to protect the gold-bearing area and trade routes, while Rabí, with its size and history, beckons to be explored. Velhartice Castle attracts with its Gothic and Renaissance elements and the nearby open-air museum of folk architecture.

In the vicinity of Hrádek Chateau, you can walk to the Kašovice Fortress, where the story of the princess with the golden star on her forehead is told, or drive to the nearby chateaux in Mokrosuky, Mlázovy, Nemilkov, which are gradually being repaired and show their past and beauty. The nearby Romanesque church of Zdouň, the church in Zbynice, Mourenec, Velhartice or Albrechtice are reminders of times past with their special historical charm and the legends that wind around them.

Those who visit our region should definitely get acquainted with the history of Šumava and glassmaking. We recommend a visit to the Museum of Sumava in Sušice, Kašperské Hory, the Municipal Museum in Horažďovice, the Lamberk Trail Museum in Žihobce, the PASK Glass Museum in Klatovy, the Mountain Synagogue in Hartmanice.

Art admirers should not miss the Sirkus Gallery in Sušice or the White Unicorn Gallery in Klatovy together with the Baroque pharmacy.
